Utilities
To have utility services connected you will need photo identification, a social security card and either proof of ownership or a rent receipt for the property to be connected. You will also have to pay a utility deposit based on the services you require. The deposits are as follows:
- Electricity - $100.00
- Water - $50.00
- Gas - $75.00
Any new utility hook ups must go through the building inspector for any required permits or tap fees. Please contact Chief Kenneth Jones at 723-3511 if you need more information.
Civic Center
The Blakely Civic Center has recently been improved and is currently available for rent. The Civic Center has a seating capacity of 150, which makes it useful for a variety of functions.
The rental rates are $120.00 for 4 hours or less and $180.00 for 4 hours or more. A security deposit of $50.00 is also required. This security deposit is refunded if the Civic Center is left in clean and undamaged condition. Contact Stephanie Hanks at (229) 723-3677 for dates of availability. The Blakely City Cemetery is open 6:00AM to 8:30PM during daylight savings time and from 6:00AM to 6:00PM during the winter months.
Speaker Appearance Form
Anyone wishing to address the Blakely City Council must submit a speaker appearance form to have you name put on the agenda. The form must be submitted to City Hall by noon on the Wednesday prior to the first Tuesday of the month.
Parade Permit
Any group wishing to hold a parade on the City streets must submit a parade permit. In order to allow adequate time for processing the permit and getting the required permission from the Georgia Department of Transportation to close any roads, permits need to be submitted at least 4 weeks before the desired parade date.
Court Square Public Assembly
Any group wishing to hold a public assembly on Court Square must submit an application. In order to allow adequate time for processing the application and getting the required permission from the Georgia Department of Transportation to close any roads, permits need to be submitted at least 4 weeks before the desired date.
